Evacuation Chair Servicing
Evacuation Chairs are classified as a Class 1 Medical Device and as such Evacuation Chair servicing needs to be carried out on an annual basis. PUWER regulations also requires all equipment to be inspected and serviced on an annual basis.
Evacuation equipment, such as Albacmats, Ski Pads, Ski Sleds, Ski Sheets, Resqmats as well as many others should also be inspected on an annual basis. This will ensure that nothing has happened to them since they were last inspected. Problems with equipment are often found to be caused by vandalism, or an unreported mishap during training, or even a mouse that has found itself a warm place to spend the winter months.
The service will include the following:
- Visual Inspection of chair and storage location
- Mechanical Check
- Renewal of any parts
- Site Test
- Provision or update of records and documentation
We can normally service up up to 20 evacuation chairs in a day. This is dependent upon the condition of the chairs, the location of buildings on any one site and the locations of the sites – sometimes sites can be fifty miles away. It will also depend upon whether the chairs are in the same locations as they were last year or whether they have been moved or just gone missing
